Job Purpose / Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to fill the position of Storekeeper. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing general, routine, and daily store activities, including processing postings, supplies receipt and distribution, carrying out inventories, and inventory control activities. The Storekeeper should have a strong ability to maintain a supply inventory database for materials, supplies, and equipment, generate related reports to verify inventory levels, and determine re-order activity and usage rates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and run store activities, including processing customer orders and ensuring timely fulfilment.
  • Receive incoming materials and reconcile them with purchase orders, promptly addressing any discrepancies.
  • Pack, label, and return supplies as necessary, maintaining organized and efficient storage.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records by updating the facility’s inventory system with physical inventory totals, receipts, adjustments, and returns.
  • Manage inventory levels to ensure they are within established minimum and maximum thresholds, coordinating with the team and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Conduct regular stock rotation and coordinate the disposal of surplus items, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with disposal guidelines.
  • Keep up-to-date records of receipts, withdrawals, and other stockroom transactions, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Generate reports from the inventory database to verify inventory levels, monitor usage rates, and determine re-order activity.
  • Conduct periodic physical inventory counting following established guidelines to ensure accurate product inventories against system records.
  • Prevent product damage, theft, accidents, and occupational risks by adhering to safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensure that all items are appropriately placed on shelves and racks according to their types and size and labelled for ease of issuance.
  • Follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety standards and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for equipment and personnel.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 4 to 10 years of experience in storekeeping, inventory control, or related roles is preferred.

Job Skills/Knowledge:

  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in using spreadsheets and database software.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling inventory and documentation.
  • Good organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift and move heavy objects as required.
  • Knowledge of safety and security protocols in a storekeeping environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed, particularly during peak periods or to meet deadlines.
  • Any additional relevant certifications or training related to storekeeping, inventory control, or logistics would be an advantage.
