Job Purpose / Summary:
Lead the day-to-day operational activities, ensuring that all equipment is functioning properly, and coordinating with maintenance staff to fix any problems that arise. Manages and coordinates all operations activities through subordinate supervisory personnel. Utilizes knowledge of product technology, production methods and procedures, and capabilities of machines and equipment to facilitate production. Works with executive staff to plan business objectives, develop organizational policies, coordinate functions, and operations between departments, and establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives. Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comply with NAMA policies and Safety, Health, and Environment Management System procedures and contribute to achieving target rates as well as comply with quality procedures and NAMA IMS certified standards. Accountable for all subordinates’ safety compliance.
- Evaluates performance of supervisors and operators for compliance with established policies and objectives of the Company.
- Reviews and analyzes the production, quality control, maintenance, and operations report to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.
- Review and monitor the accuracy of the SAP Production quantities entered by the team and compare with figures with Finance and Warehouse Department records.
- Recommends and/or initiates personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
- Manages vendor relationships with machine equipment manufacturers and negotiates purchases of new equipment.
- Enhances and/or develops, implements, and enforces policies and procedures of the organization that will improve the overall operation.
- Maintains visible and active field presence to promote a safe working environment and assure activities are conducted in an environmentally compliant manner per environmental regulations and permitting.
- Responds to emergencies 24/7 and other upsets and may be required to work nights and/or weekends.
- Suggests and manages training for the team to have the proper level of proficiency and to maintain a high level of compliance and competency.
- Manage operations budget to ensure minimal production cost and optimal product quality.
- Collaborate with Safety, Health, and Environment Management System managers to develop and implement safety policies for general plant operations.
- Delegate and assign work tasks to Engineers and Supervisors to achieve set operation targets.
- Maintain accurate inventory and ensure proper storage of received raw materials.
- Prepare the financial budget for the department, and communicate cost control targets to the Management. Monitor the Budget against the plan and take actions to assure adherence to the limits set in the budget. Overall control of production cost including manpower.
- Review and approve expense Design Change Request projects which can be accomplished through direct maintenance orders without outsourcing manpower.
- Ensures that quality work is performed by the operations team and contracting manpower.
- Based on business plans and goals, prepares manpower schedules, expenditure budgets, and CAPEX budgets to meet production targets.
Job Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business management, engineering, or in a related discipline that graduated from a reputable College or University.
Experience:
13 to 15 years of experience in chemical & petrochemical plants in a similar function. (Experience in Business Management is preferable). Must have handled a large operations team and can lead by holding himself and his team accountable.
